Who are the Finno-Ugric peoples?
The peoples who speak the languages belonging to Finno-Ugric group are scattered over a vast area extending from the Baltic Sea and the northernmost regions of the Scandinavian peninsula to the Ural mountains and south/west to the river Danube. Today, they number nearly 25 million.
The Finno-Ugric langugages differ from Indo-European languages in terms of typology, grammar, and phonology.
